Planning a Visit

Our 252-acre campus, spanning the communities of Montclair, Little Falls and Clifton, is a special place. It has a relaxed, secluded feel, yet is only 30 minutes by train from New York City.

The best way to get a feel for Montclair State is to visit. Our tours are led by students who are happy to share their own experiences at the University. You can also take a virtual tour or participate in one of our open houses.

Campus Tours are led by Student Ambassadors and are offered throughout the academic year. You can opt for a personal tour for you and your family, or join a group tour with other prospective students.

Virtual Tours are the next best thing to being here in person. From the comfort of your own home, you can enjoy 360-degree views of some of the iconic spots on campus, from Alumni Green to Panzer Athletic Center, and visit a typical residential hall room.

Undergraduate Open Houses are large-scale events that allow you to get to know lots of other prospective students. Meet faculty members as well as representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Athletics, Residence Education and many more departments.

Graduate Open Houses are held once a semester, usually in October and February. Meet faculty representatives from each of our 85 graduate programs, and ask questions at informative breakout sessions about your particular area of interest. Graduate admissions and financial aid representatives are also on hand.

Transfer and Adult Students Open Houses let you ask questions about the transfer process from admissions counselors, academic advisors, and financial aid specialists. If you’re 25 or older and are attending college for the first time, or returning after an absence of two or more years, experts will walk you through the application and enrollment process and alleviate any concerns you may have about returning to the classroom.

Arts Days feature workshops with faculty members from the College of the Arts, performances by talented students, and advice about the University’s audition and interview process.
